MUSICAL TRUTH TOUR 2009

After numerous requests...Musical Truth will do a 10-day tour in October of 2009. We have had numerous requests (early morning seminaries, temple visitors centers, special engagements and firesides) and are now trying to prioritize each request. We will fly in to Los Angeles and head for Salt Lake City, UT; work our way down to St. George, Las Vegas, NV and conclude our tour in the Los Angeles area. Although we're on the Lord's errand, I'm sure He won't mind if we have a little fun. We will be in each town that we visit for 1 to 2 days max.

Former members of Musical Truth who live in these areas and even those who don't, who wish to join us, are more than welcome. Please email us at musicaltruth@gmail.com if you wish to be a part of this special event. Although this tour will be a whirl wind, it will be nice to have a little reunion with those who will be able to attend. We look forward to singing with you!

IT ALL BEGAN...

Musical Truth originated in January of 1994 when three friends (Aaron Keung, Kai Rapozo and Jolene Kanahele) got together and decided to form a singing group that would aid in their spiritual growth as well as the development of their musical talents. Other friends were invited to join and together they created a harmonious blend that can only be felt by the heart.

Musical Truth requires no auditions, nor does it require any of its members to be professional musicians. The only requirement is DESIRE. And that desire is to serve their fellowmen, that through their shining example; they will know without a doubt that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is TRUE!

Jolene Kanahele, Director
A native of La’ie, Hawai’i (Oahu’s North Shore) Jolene P.S. Kanahele is known for her “gift of music” (her trademark), which she has nurtured and shared all her life with the people in her hometown and beyond. Jolene’s irrefutable love for the Savior and her unshakable faith and testimony of the Gospel has enabled her to touch the lives of many through portraits she paints with inspiring lyrics; mere expressions of ‘hope’ in times of personal difficulty.

“Vocals are secondary to the purpose of this work,” says Jolene; to which she adds, “Anyone is good enough if they are willing and teachable.”

Since then Musical Truth has done musical firesides throughout the State of Hawai’i and beyond; they have also been involved in the BYU Hawai’i Recruitment Program with providing spiritual messages through song for recruitment firesides.

The reputation of Musical Truth has led to the production of three CD’s: “There Is Peace” (Vol. 1); “My Humble Prayer” (Vol. 2); and “His Love” (Vol. 3). The success of her music in Hawai’i has prompted the need to share her music on a larger scale both in the LDS and Christian markets.

Hawai’i’s renowned “Spirit of Aloha”, synonymous with Charity—the pure love of Christ, is the very message Jolene wishes to portray in all that she creates; simply because it applies to all who love God. There is nothing fancy about her work; no frills or no candy-coated melodies…Her ‘simple’ sense of style reflect the plainness and beauty of Gospel truths.

Jolene views uplifting music quite simply as “God’s language”. Therefore, she says, “Harmony is the only melody we should sing”…and that, dear friends, is the Musical Truth!

THE ORIGIN OF "LASERBEAMS"
"Laserbeams" as noted by Kaniela is Jo's nickname. If you're singing off key and try to hide when she asks one of the following questions..."Whose singing that note?" or "Whose singing flat?" You best fess up because she will make everyone in the room sing by themselves until she finds the culprit (which she already knows who they are). So to avoid the embarrassment and blinding lasers...just raise your hand and say "Me!"
